Franklin High School

Educational Foundation

Since 1962, Franklin High School’s staff and supporters have been awarding scholarships to members of Franklin’s graduating classes.  Mort Tenner, our principal, and Jack Wright, our College Advisor, continued the tradition and are the co-founders of The Franklin High School Educational Foundation.

In 1977, 25 of our graduating seniors shared $2,725.  This year, the foundation awarded $170,000 to 132 college-bound seniors.

Through generous donations by Franklin's alumni and staff, The Franklin High School Educational Foundation now has three million dollars and uses only the earnings from its investments to award Franklin High School seniors “lifetime loans” without interest.   Since its inception in 1990, the Franklin High School Educational Foundation has awarded $1,803,257 to 3,785 students to help them reach their full potential.  The foundation has also granted $63,300 to Franklin’s Academic Decathlon team which is currently ranked third in California.

For more information about the foundation, go to http://www.fef4students.org/.

Jack Wright will be our honored guest at our reunion.  Unfortunately, Mort Tenner regrets that he is not able to attend Franklin reunions anymore.  As we look back at our years at Franklin, you may want to make a donation in Mort Tenner’s name or remember a teacher who has had an impact on your own life.  You may also send a message to the Class of 1977 or the future students of F.H.S. and have it displayed on our website.

Please help the Class of 1977 “pay it forward” and make a donation to the Franklin High School Educational Foundation.
